What You 'll Do for Us

  • Resolves day-to-day technical problems with forklifts and other Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) used on the production lines and in compliance with OSHA safety requirements and manufacturer's specifications. Repairs and maintains forklifts and other PITs to ensure that they function reliably. Maintains maintenance records so that recurring problems can be identified and addressed. Performs preventative maintenance on forklifts and other PITs to keep them in compliance and in good working order. Individual contributor that works under supervision and applies technical knowledge.

  • The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for providing shop technical support of forklifts, walkie stackers, electric pallet jacks, scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, and other PITs. The Forklift Mechanic is also tasked with understanding, developing, initiating, and maintaining the preventive and planned maintenance aspects of the forklifts and other PITs throughout the Atlanta Syrup Plant production facility.

  • The Forklift Mechanic must have and have demonstrated the ability to perform work safely, assist towards the enhanced reliability of forklifts and other PITs, demonstrate competence in the troubleshooting and restoration of those assets following downtime as required by the Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor. This position must also execute the maintenance program, and the ability to comply to with all safety codes is paramount. The Forklift Mechanic must also have the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and repair problems (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic etc.). The Forklift Mechanic must also be able to perform tests, isolate equipment issues and troubleshoot issues before the removal and replacement of failed components. The Forklift Mechanic must also be able to determine actual failure modes by studying worn components, and perform other tasks, as required of Root Cause & Failure Analysis (RCFA) and/or Breakdown Assessments (BDA) as required. Preventive maintenance and upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems is also required.

  • Work within SAP to perform and improve support equipment PMs and to collect relevant data and report out as required. Provide detailed documentation within SAP in a timely manner.

  • Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary using SAP PM.

  • Assist with improving Material Management for the forklift shop and ensure the forklift shop is maintained within 5S standards.

  • Inspect, start-up, test and verify that forklifts and PIT's function properly and as designed.

  • Execute the work schedule as provided by the Maintenance Planner and/or Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Adhere and comply with all polices of The Coca-Cola Company.

Qualification s & Requirements

  • Meet all basic plant employment criteria, to include a good attendance record.

  • Must supply own tools.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience on forklifts and other manufacturing support equipment.

  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools.

  • Able to read diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics as required to service forklifts and PIT's.

  • Manual and finger dexterity.

  • Ability to visually identify defective parts.

  • Ability to work and function in ambient or non-air-conditioned spatial environments.

  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner and report any safety issues to the Maintenance Supervisor immediately.

  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. frequently during the day.
