The Coca-Cola Company Director, Legal Counsel - LATAM Privacy in Ciudad de México, Mexico

Coca-Cola is on the lookout for a skilled privacy counsel with a passion for data protection to join our Global Privacy Office as our lead for Latin America. In this critical role, you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and maintenance of Coca-Cola's privacy program, including advising the business on compliance with applicable requirements, providing training and awareness, and monitoring compliance. Key Responsibilities :

  • Trusted Advisor: Serve as the cornerstone for interpreting and navigating LATAM privacy and data protection laws.

  • Data Protection: Serve as the data protection officer for the LATAM region

  • Training Lead: Facilitate comprehensive training and support, fostering a deep-rooted understanding of regional data protection mandates and best practices.

  • Compliance Analyst: Monitor compliance with data protection laws and regulations, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.

  • Trend Follower: Stay abreast of legislative shifts, industry protocols, and technological evolutions potentially impacting our business.

  • Cross-Functional Collaborator: Work closely with key stakeholders to refine Coca-Cola's privacy program, enhancing its structural and operational efficacy.

  • Data Rights Liaison: Act as the principal liaison for escalated individual data processing inquiries, championing the safeguard of personal data rights.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Law degree with strong academic credentials and license to practice law in a LATAM country.

  • 7+ years of experience specializing in privacy and data protection issues at a law firm or in-house environment.

  • Comprehensive understanding of privacy and data protection requirements throughout LATAM, including related to employee data, digital marketing, data subject rights, and AI.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish, and Portuguese (preferred).

  • Experience with complex and multi-disciplinary projects on an international scale and advising senior leaders.

  • Relevant privacy and data protection certifications (e.g. IAPP) is preferred.
