The Coca-Cola Company Assistant Strategic Planning Manager in Shanghai, China
This role is under the Director of Strategic Development and be responsible for several key areas:
End to end planning process: Strong support BU key planning process and develop key forecast models & strategic frameworks for strategic plan development to identify size of price, where to play, how to win and guide on resource allocation
Thought leadership liaison: Work in close collaboration with function teams throughout planning process to provide thought leadership, strategic perspective, analysis
Competitive Intelligence and Profit pool: Monitor competitive/industry landscape from profit pool lenses (category, player and channel) and develop insights to be factored into strategic and business planning recommendations and action plans
Strategic thinking: Forward looking & Provide strategic perspective and advice on which strategic options to take to unlock potential growth and address strategic issues
Special projects – support cross-functional projects of strategic nature
Key Result Areas
End to end planning process: Proactively support the cross-functional/region facilitation and development of long-term strategy and annual business planning cycle for BU to identify opportunity maps and business models to achieve Long term Vision:
LRP: Strong support of the key SBP process such as strategy day to identify opportunities, surface key strategic issues & explore root causes for the next stage of strategy development; Own key forecast models & strategic frameworks for strategic plan development such as industry/KO forecast etc.
Redbook: Lead the facilitation and completion of annual Redbook development process;
ABP: Work closely with regions (esp. China and Korea) to support the development and integration of BU annual business plan;
Strategic partner to function teams: Work in close collaboration with function teams such as marketing, supply chain, finance to provide thought leadership, strategic perspective, analysis to support on functional opportunity identification and planning needs
Monitor competitive landscape from profit pool and develop insights to be factored into strategic and business planning recommendations and action plans
Profit Pool: Develop comprehensive competitor and industry profit pool by category and by channel to identify threats and opportunities to KO annually; Compile profit pool evolution analysis to come up insights on category opportunity and competitor landscape and feed into strategic business planning
Workshops: Develop scenario gaming model for strategic workshops targeting key competitors so that participants are able to draw lessons and implications through a more vivid simulation
Monitor key competitor (NARTD/Non RTD) and key player (within the ecosystem) profile and intelligence to support strategy and business development
Strategic projects to identify appropriate business models/solutions that could be used to accelerate growth:
Apply independent thinking, build models and scenarios, leverage available facts, and incorporate new and multiple sources of info to identify new insights, or deliver analytical solutions to complex issues and problems.
Identifying those areas where system capabilities require building and/or developing, to deliver on the defined strategies
Help manage strategic consulting project involving external consultants (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, Booz) on key projects, such as upgrading strategic planning process, develop china-tailored M&A strategy, channel strategy etc.
Other strategic project on process improvement，new business model, digital etc.

Knowledge & Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years working experience in business/strategy consulting; FMCG strategy, or FMCG finance/commercial with good strategic sense etc. Experience in FMCG preferred Experience in strategic planning and/or consulting strongly preferred Advanced skills in Excel/modeling and Powerpoint
Education & Professional Qualification:
Bachelor degree or above, preferably in business, marketing, economics or finance; MBA would be a plus
Proficient in written and oral English & Chinese
Travel up to 5%-10% of work time under normal conditions
